You'll be fine. Just remember that you have a lot of brake pad for the tires you have. I had Hawk Blues all around with OEM RE050's. Yes, it was easy to activate the ABS, especially when the tires were cold. As long as I kept that threshold in mind (where I activate ABS), I could brake hard upto that point without activating the ABS.

Did you bed in the pads?

To the OP - do you know what ABS feels like when its activating?? Does this situataion feel different? How old are the rotors and do you street drive them as well? Is there any reason why we are ruling out warped rotors?

Just curious.

Just wanted to rule out worn rotors, but you prob would have noticed if they were warped in street driving. I went ahead and bought track-only rotors for a number of reasons. I was surprised at how quickly I got into ABS the first time I put track pads on too.

My suggestion before you do anything drastic...

Make sure you did, and if you didnt, perform the manufactures recommended bed in proceedure. Im guessing you have deposits on your rotors from inproper bedding/use.

Main thing is to heat up the rotors using multiple ABS engaging stops, then letting the brakes cool in a controlled fashion, like highway driving etc.

Actually, the Carbotech procedure says specifically to not engage ABS during the bedding procedure. You should plan to use your first session at the track just to bed your pads. For the first couple of laps take it easy on them (which should be easy if the first lap is a warmup lap), then get gradually more aggressive with them until you get fade. As soon as you get fade (which I assume is caused by outgassing), start letting them cool down (i.e., take it easy for the rest of the lap and then get off the track). If you have a place where you can drive a bit without braking, then use that to help them cool some more. Then park it for at least 30 minutes.

I was fortunate with bedding my pads last weekend, because I started getting fade on the last hotlap of the session, so I got to use the full next lap for cooling my pads down.

^^cool... just figured they were all the same. I actually just bought my first set of carbotechs. Im done with cobalts.

Still, I think hes got to bed in the rotors properly... do what mxt77 says.
