I use a mocal with the 200F option and on cold days driving to the track was seeing 130-140 temps measured at the pan, I fabbed a block off for my oil cooler to keep the oil warm on the street.
Tell me, do those of you who use the mocal with the 200F thermostat actually see 200F at the pan on the street?
I wonder if mine has always been faulty or stuck open?
Once I'm on track the temps climb to 210 to 230 by lap 3, as the pressure drops from 90 to 65 psi over 2k rpm.

As far as I know mocal thermostat is never totally closed, so even in cold it allows oils flow to the cooler.

Hmmm, that's a good point. I noticed my core was warm to the touch even after driving it very easy on a ~40 degree day. I've got a piece of cardboard ziptied to it now for driving in colder weather.

If you're running the oem pan, it's very effective at cooling the oil. When I had the oem pan and oil temp gauge, temps would fall to those temps cruising on the highway on very cold days. I'm now running a canton pan, which is steel and lacks the cooling fins. Temps are a little warmer with it, especially just putzing on the street as I no longer get cooling from the OEM pan. I'd say your temperatures are normal. It's just the OEM pan doing its thing.

If you go to the dragon and hit the track 2-3 times a year, I highly recommend picking up an oil cooler with the thermostat. If you are boosted in anyway, I highly recommend you pick up an oil cooler with a thermostat.

If you never hit vattack and rub your S2 with a diaper, do not get an oil cooler at all.

I was cruising around my hood last weekend with watching my oil temps go beteeen 180-190 all evening long. Before I installed my oil cooler with the thermostat I would be in the 200-210 range.

I didn't have my oil temp gauge at the dragon last year, but I bet a dollar that my oil temps will be higher running through the dragon compared to a track.

Long story short, if you are anyway involved in spirited driving, buy an oil cooler. It's worth the 400 bucks for piece of mind.

OP,

Have you played around with the plumbing at all to see if you were able to bring up your oil pressure again?

Thanks.
