Can someone help me with PAX?

The difference between street tires and r comps(mainly purple crack) has become very marginal as of late. The big factors that make a bigger difference are course and surface. On a transitional course on asphalt the difference in tires is very minimal. On a sweeper intensive course or concrete the difference becomes more apparent. The other issue with pax is that many street classes are not developed to their potential and also certain classes destroyed others at nationals so the differentials became larger. Such cases as fmod and bsp.

Don't mean to be mean, argumentative, disrespectful or rude, but I must say, in the most friendly and warmhearted tone, that this is wildly incorrect. LOL. 2 to 3 seconds per minute compared to a Dunlop Z2 is hardly "marginal." I have extensive first hand testing, back to back, same day, same course etc. as recently as last year compared to both Z1's and Z2's. Sorry, I just couldn't read this post and not say anything. Please, don't hate me. I do agree that some surfaces do further add to the rcomp advantage though, that is true and proven.

Cheers,

Nick

Fixed that for you, lol. By about 40-60 runs, a Hoosier is pretty close to a street tire. By 80-100, the street tire may be better.

So if you're talking about the last 2/3rds of a R-comp's life, then agreed. Pretty marginal difference.

But if someone was inclined to run on fresh Hoosiers, big difference. BIG difference.

I do agree about transitional vs sweeper. Especially if a car is softly sprung, it can't get to the peak grip of the tire before it has to transition again in a slalom. So the extra grip of a Hoosier is wasted. But that's not the fault of the tire, it's the car and chassis that can't use the grip. Most S2000s are still stiff enough that there is still a significant transitional difference, IMHO.

Josh, if you are only 2 seconds faster than STR in BSP trim, you have a lot of work to do to be competitive....

R comps are worth 2 seconds on our 60 second asphalt course as proven by a past national champion running an H stock Mini. ZIIs vs A6s.

Not on concrete...where it matters.

Nats Results:
1st STR: 1:33.56
2nd BSP: 1:26.83
