Default caster

Last year I ran a track day on oem tires. The passenger side front tire outer edge wore much to much. I was running 35 lbs. I just bought a set of michelin pilot sport cups. 225-45 17 front and 255-40-17 rear. Any thoughts on how I should adjust the caster. I read in a thread neg for the front. Backs looked ok. This car will be driven daily with oems . Thanks in advance. Mile

Mike, most people set camber and toe and just get as much caster as they have left over.

I'm thinking that you may be confused about camber vs. caster. Caster is the angle of the steering axis (think about the angle that the forks of a motorcycle make when observed from the side). Camber is the angle of the wheel with the road when viewed from the front or back (think about looking straight on at an F1 car-- the tops of the tires are closer together than the bottoms).

In any case, try a UK spec alignment. That should be the right balance of street / track performance. It's basically the same as the US spec, with a little more negative camber front and rear.

I'm speculating now: the UK spec combined with MPSC's might give you a little bit of oversteer. So, either add some more negative camber in the rear or over-inflate your front tires a little bit.
