Default Catch Can Install

So I made the mistake of doing a NASA Track Day in Sebring last weekend. Had way too much fun. However after watching a video of someone following me, I smoke screened them a few times, so it's time for a catch can.

I've started doing some research on Catch Can Installs, but as usual, everyone and their mom has a different opinion, and it seems the Forced Induction guys have a whole different set of problems to deal with. I wanted to get the R&C crowds opinion. It seems like there's a ton of different ways to do it.

Also, are catch cans STR legal? If not, I'd like something I can pull off the car relatively easy for tours.

Yes, they're legal. Clyde Siazon (Iluvketchup or something like that) had a setup with a Moroso can that I would copy if I ran into that issue. Don't know specifics involving the part number or routing.

I own the Cusco catch can. From PCV off valve cover a line goes to one side of can and from other side goes to intake manifold. Mounted can and lines high. If your on street tires, this will probably be enough. I will say if i were on slicks and had a longer course id look into a return line on bottom of catch can to dump oil back to oil pan.

I have mine off as i want to see if i still do the smoke screen with new Canton oil pan. Best part is its like 5 min for removal or install.

Also mount can on passenger side of engine bay. Makes it a longer path for oil flow to catch can.

Thanks for the responses guys, sounds easy enough.
But you know how s2ki is...over-complicate everything.

Here was my setup (STR) with the Moroso catch can. I recommend Moroso because the drain valve in the bottom makes it easy to remove oil.

Don't laugh at the silly strut bar. lol It's there to take up space and it's something to lean on.

Follow this thread, and swap the catch can with whatever one you want and stuff it wherever you can:

I say you want one that vents to atmosphere, emissions be damned. I dono about auto-x rules.

I use an ebay special. $15 shipped. Has worked splendidly for the past 5 years.
has a drain on the bottom, clear tube to see how full the tank is (although it has since gone cloudly and unreadable).

It's not as pretty as those fancy ones, but functions the same, and saves me more money for track time.

Mines routed exactly like ILuvKetchup's.

I just capped my PCV valve and the intake port. Then, I put a breather filter on the front port. Works great.

Also, you should be advised that oil can run through the front hose and accumulate in the air pump. Your car will start smoking like crazy when you cold start it and the pump kicks on.

I've got an 06, so no air pump. But a good heads up.

I may just go with a Cusco setup, it's cheap enough, and should be plug and play. Thanks for the advice guys!
