Then I got this for my helmet
I have a similar setup, but I'm not happy with the earbuds that I have. How do you like those that you listed?

I do not think that (in many/most cases) an open face helmet is less safe than a closed face helmet. They both pass the same design standards.
Not in a million years would I believe your rationale... I hope ya never whack your jaw into a rollbar or the window sill while wearing that lame open face thing.

Just plug it in the night before any 2 day HPDE. It will last the whole weekend (turn it off between runs).
Thx, that's cool. I got through my 1st session with just the power it had in it from the factory, Ipopped in onto the charger after than student and it was ok for the day but seemed rather weak. I then plugged it in overnight at the hotel and damn near blew out my ear the following morning it was so loud.

That would be great, if one charge would hold the whole 2 days, I sometimes just leave the helmet in the car overnight at the track and then drive down to the hotel in the truck, thus by the time I realized my error the track would be locked.

A big part of your question is going to come back to what's the inside of your helmet like? I have seen some M and SA helmets that have virtually no ear pockets, and some which have nice deep ones. My SA is a G-Force, and the pockets are very pronounced - thus I really like the stereo ear buds with the included mic a lot! I suspect though if the ear pockets are very shallow these could be a pain because they might always move or fall out as you tried to pull the helmet on. Think major PITA!

My helmet has deep ear pockets, the 2 speakers are just stuck to the inner fabric of the helmet by velcro, the velcro came with the kit, a small circle of male stuck to the back of the speaker and then the speaker just stuck to the soft fabric. Same thing basically for the mic and then some careful poking of the wires under the fabric and seals so they are all out of sight. Now I can just pull my helmet on with no fussing around trying to cram spomething up to my ear, I have enough battles with my glasses I did not need to fight with the speakers too.

They fit fine in both my Bell M2 Pro and my G-force helmets.

Cool.

I have to say, they would not do too well in my old M1995 Shoei, but then again, now that I have the SA2000 G-Force I'm only using the Shoei for the motorcycle. I have been very pleased with the G-Force, it is an amazing fit to my head size/shape, better in fact than the Shoei I spent soooooo much money on.

Yea, I have to admit the $250 G-Force *appears* as well made as my $550 Bell. It fits well and is actually a little lighter than my Bell. I mainly got the g-Force for autoX and kept the Bell for track use. I plan on getting an Arai for my next track helmet but I may just be falling for name brand snobbery.

Hey Tube, I'm in basically the same situation. I got the G-Force because I was attending a school that required an SA, and I had been thinking all along it would be a good step up in my safety gear. I was nervous as hell ordering on-line as when I bought my Shoei I went to the motorcycle shop and tried on a dozen helmets trying to get the best fit. The silly G-Force shows up via UPS, I pull it out of the box, pop it on and perfect comfort and tightness. Wow.

The only thing that really sucks, my SA helmet work like complete crap on the motorcycle because it is not designed to be in the air flow. The screw holes for the Hans device work like whistles, the handles to open the face shield work like spoilers and wings. One could go completely deaf in a single day ride from all the noise. The Shoei on the other hand is glass smooth, hidden seams, areo tricks, and totally designed for airflow. I just hate having two helmets nowadays...

One thing i do is use velcro to attatch the box to either side of my helmet depending on whether I am driving or riding passsenger so that the wiring doesnt cross in front of me. Velcro is the greatest stuff in the world. Whenever i cant figure out how to secure something, velcro always bails me out.

I got instructed and my instructor had one of these and all I can say is it was VERY uncomfortable. My helmet fits fine, nice and snug but still comfortable but cramming an extra flat earpiece in there made my head feel like it was in a vise. We finally gave up and started just yelling back and forth, it was just an autocross school.
