Default Cheap Lightweigt Wheels for S?

I am searching for a set of lightweight wheels to use on the track for the S, but everything I find is very expensive. Are their any cheap alternatives? I would love a set of Rotas if they made a size that would work. What are you guys all using?

Thanks!
Chris

Not familiar with Rota wheels, but Lighter = More Expensive unless poor quality (= unsafe).

Unless you track a lot and are looking for those extra tenths, you should consider a used set of OEM's MY00-03. 16" tires will be cheaper also since it sounds like cost is a factor. Otherwisie, Volk CE28N 17" is a popular choice. As you consider cost, keep in mind that the cost of the wheels will be minor compared to the tires in the long run, so consider what tires you can afford long-term also.

Yeah you can the the 18 CCWs (same price range as the CE28ns) and they are very light for their size, but tires are about 50% more than stock wheels.

Rota does a very good job of managing cheap, light, and durable. They are not the lightest wheels you can buy, but they are within a couple pounds and they cost about 1/3 as much.

There was a thread elsewhere on S2kI about Rota wheels, and someone had contacted Rota about making a set sized for the S2000. The answer was if someone could organize an order for 10 sets, they would make staggered-size wheels with custom offset, size, and bolt pattern.

If I ever get around to buying a 2005 S2000, I'd be up for organizing an order for 17" stock-sized Circuit 10s (their Mugen MF-10 look alike).

Im buying ROtas for my rx7 track only scca car, and I have no reservations about either their weight, performance, or quality as I have heard nothing but good things from their users. I am purchasing the gt-3's in a 15x7 as per class rules, and would love to get some for my S if they were available.

Here are a couple threads on Rotas from the Wheel & Tire forum:

I had some on my 5th gen prelude for a few years. I tracked the thing for 4 years, and daily drove on them, never a bent rim. Mine were the Racing Hart CP-035 look alikes. Very light, fit and finish is good. I heard some stories about the larger rims bending when hitting huge holes/race walls But my 17s never had a problem. Even in the michigan winters.
