Default Coilovers, please.

Mods, please don't move this thread.

I checked in the FAQ here and didn't see anything about this, and I did a quick search of the forum and found nothing very solid.

As I did with my M3, I plan on tracking the s2k when I pick it up. With the M3, I knew what was out there, the good stuff, the bad stuff, etc...

With the S2000, I still cant come to any conclusions because all I find here is mixed information.

So I figured I would go to the guys with the most experience - you track guys.

The S2000 will be a weekend car that will see the track ~6-12 times a year, but I am far from considering competitive racing. Price isn't a big deal... so what brand/models should I consider. I'd appreciate your input as well.

Thanks

And yet, price really does kind of make the answer here. Everybody says "price doesn't matter", but then when pointed towards a $10K setup they usually back off that pretty quick.

lol, yeah I mean obviously it counts... but sorry i may not have been clear...

I don't plan on going into competitive racing... just a handfull of track events per year. So I'm not really serious. I don't need external reservoirs and all that crazy stuff.

Single adjustable or Double adjstable would be enough for me.

You know, the stock rears have external reservoirs....

One set that has become quite popular for the price is the KW variant 3. Double adjustible. I have them on my car now. I actually only have one 20-minute track session with them so far, but they worked fine for those 20 minutes. You can get a set of KWv3s for $1700-1800, somewhere around there.

I had no idea, that's pretty crazy.

Do you know who makes the springs and struts/shocks?

Mike, what would you do if you DID have a $10k budget for the suspension?

Spend it on something else. Track time, most likely.

The Spoon and mugen are both single adjustable with no independent rebound/compression adjustment capability. So, one turn of the knob will adjust both the rebond and compression to a pre-determined setting (there are 4 or 5 settings for each unit, I believe)

They are both good units if you want to do some basic tracking. Both are made by Showa (same as the OEMs)

Hope this helps.

Come on Mike. If you have a $10k suspension budget that would imply (to me, at least) that all the other expenses were in other parts of the overall budget, so your track time comes from a different pool. You mentioned putting $10k into suspension improvements, and I'd really like to know where you'd suggest the money go, assuming that the budget really was unlimited (or at least in excess of $10k).

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to spend that much on real suspension improvements without going widebody.
