Default Comptech adjustable front sway bar question

Looking at the design, it appears that it would be prone to clunking or rattling due to the adjustment bolts. Each time you transition, the load on the bolts will be reversed, and the small amount of clearance would cause a click or clunk as it loaded and unloaded.

Is this the case, or are the clearances tight enough that it is quiet? I might get one for autocrossing, but not if it makes a bunch of noise all the time. I still want to enjoy the car on the street.

Thanks.

It's actually the most quiet of all the bars since most rattles come from after market endlinks. I've had mine for almost two years and it's completely rattle and noise free. It does require periodic mantenance though. I'd say about once or twice a year you should take it apart and clean and lube the area where the bars slide into eachother. The paint rubs off in there and surface rust will form. Keep it well lubed and you'll be in the clear.

I love mine and I never regret getting it over the cheaper bars.

Oh, and to address your specific concerns, no, the tolerances are so tight that there is no sound as the bar loads the pin.

The only noise I've gotten from mine in the past 3 years is from the urethane bushings. I should just grease 'em up but I don't care...

Thanks for the replies guys. Do the stock end links hold up well given the stiffness of this bar?

Also, is fitment good? Any "tweaking" needed during installation?

Oh, one more thing. Am I correct in assuming adjustments take a little longer with this bar, since the adjustment mechanism isn't at the ends of the bar?

Thanks again.

My stock endlinks are the same as new as far as I can tell and like I've said, I've had the bar almost 2 years. I would guess there are about 60 auto-xes on it.

Installation was perfect. No modifications needed.

I can adjust the bar in about 15 min including taking off the splash guard.

I've still got the OEM endlinks, also. I rarely run on concrete so that may help with longevity. The bar's been on full stiff the whole time (so why did I need an adjustable bar? ). Since it *has* been on full stiff the whole time, the bolt is stuck in the saddle washer/collars - I need to pull the bar to get enough room to smack it loose. Maybe if I had it on a lift...

Thanks for the info guys. Do either of you have pics of the part of the bar the bolt passes through? I'm trying to understand what the saddle washer/collars are.

No problems, no noises, never adjust-leave on full stiff, stock end links-run on concrete many times.

It's probably because I have an MY00, but on a few occasions I have gotten some inside rear wheel lift even on asphalt. I think getting some non-stock shocks would help this.

Now if I run a Comptech on full stiff, it might be wise to run a wider front tire on the street, right? I don't want an understeer monster on the street. I mean, I don't go nuts on the street, but occasionally I'll have a little fun.

Also... suggestions on best place to buy the Comptech bar?
