I run at AMP fairly frequently and have the same issue. When I was on less grippy tires, I'd fuel starve with about 1/2 tank and it'd usually starve right at turn in for Turn 16 (worst place it could happen). In fact I have video of the first time it happened. Hard to tell but I had to make a small correction which forced me wide. Definitely a butt clincher. Now that I'm on stickier RS3s I starve for about 3 seconds usually before turn in.

For now I just refill at the gas station every 2 sessions.

P.S. I assume you were at the Just Track It event last weekend? I was the black AP2 in Advanced with rollbar and otherwise stockish appearance.

I'm thinking of doing the hydromat too. They make all sorts of sizes. There is a cross looking one that could work if I cut something into the stock swirl pot. I'm not a fan of an external fuel surge tank sitting behind me while on track.

Woah yeah that is not a good spot for that to happen, how fast were you going? Luckily the 4-5 times that it happened to me the car didn't react like that but I'm definitely going to follow your advice and just always run on a full tank at AMP.

Yeah I was there and thought I saw 2 other s2000s, but when driving around the paddock I didn't find you. I'll be there with pde on the 5th, hopefully we can meet up.

105 mph according to my speedometer from that video. Makes it a little better now that they adding a runoff area there now.

And not to scare you, but it is a corner to respect. (skip to 2:00)

Yep but I think he misjudged the turn. That was one of the first things I was told about AMP. The APR wing really helps there and turn 12 at Road Atlanta.

I'm running a hydramat in a fuel cell (FP autocross car) and it works as advertised. I think they have recently came out with something that will work with a stock tank with a fuel cup, where you T into the bottom of the pump, then run a mat over to the right side, and use the magnets that they sell to hold them in place in the tank.

another thing that will help is replacing the entire stock hanger/filter assembly. when I was running a stock tank, I did that and went from having issues to it being able to be ran down to 1/4 tank easily. I think they are suppose to be changed every 60,000 or so anyways, but its a bitch to get to if you still have the convertible top.

I haven't found any details on how to install a hydramat. I'm assuming the tank has to come out and cut to remove the bowl and sharp edges? That sounds like a whole lot of work that's maybe worth only to the competitive guys.

I just ordered the 15X8 cross hydromat. It has the fittings on one of the long ends. I also ordered their magnet set. My initial plan is to trim the stock bowl and have the mat lay as flat as possible across the tank. wish me luck

Ddess good luck and let us know how it works out

MB, where did you mount the surge tank, and how difficult was the install?
