It looks great! That's an awesome job you did. I would totally rock that Trackvision + DL1 but that's like $1000+ just for some overlays.

I've actually used the RaceChrono to log and RaceChrono2avi to produce some basic video overlays, only cost me $80 to buy a 5hz GPS. Ofcourse, it looks like shiet compared to yours. Next year I might invest in a bluetooth OBD2 reader to transmit throttle as well.

Here's an overlay I made using the GPS and RaceChrono. (overlay starts at 2:17)

Really like your setup though, looks very clean, wish I could afford such a system.

I've got the files all packed up and I'm in the process of trying to get the files hosted on the Trackvision forum. In the meantime, if you guys want them, PM me your e-mail address and I'll forward them on.

Looks pretty good for just a 5hz GPS and free software! The thing that really makes it worth the money is not the video overlay, that's just something extra to do with the data that is fun to share. The real benefit you are paying for is to be able to analyze your driving. The 10Hz GPS and more importantly the 100Hz accelerometers are going to give you a much better picture of what's going on with the car. Add in some inputs like the TPS and Tach and you start to really be able to improve your driving even from one session to the next after reviewing the data.

Do you guys know of a system that export the data as line graphs vs. bars?

and damn you FormulaRedline... I don't need to spend more money on my car but you're not helping with these delicious treats you post.

For those that have Trackvision, the Trackvision forums are now hosting the files for the overlay:

Just want to thank you for the awesome overlay!!!:

(About the video--yeah, I know, don't laugh at the time. I know I suck. I'll get better. Just wanted to show how awesome his dash looks.)

FYI--To get that video was quite the challenge--found a TON of bugs with TrackVision and DataLinkII. Sigh. Took a whole week of playing with stuff to get both pieces of software working right!

Of note is one particularly annoying bug, and just FYI to FormulaRedline, I found out that the software can only process certain types of .png's on my computer. Turns out your .png had to be reconverted in Gimp to remove certain data elements for TrackVision to use it correctly (Photoshop and others I've tried cannot produce the appropriate format. Microsoft Paint can, but it can't handle transparencies.) I can only assume this bug is only in certain environments as I'm sure it played fine on your computer, as well as probably most users'.

Thanks again!

Nice! Glad to see it worked out for you.

That's strange that you had trouble with the .png, though. I actually made it using Gimp, in Windows 7 32-bit.

This makes me wanna buy a data logger!

I have to refrain because I need to buy a dd and only use the s2k to autocross.

Josh, you will need a data logger and the trackvision.net software... and of course video.

I have all these pieces... I just have not been doing this for a couple of years.

I really should get the update to 2.1 and get things ready for next year.
