Day 1 update from Daytona
Hi guys, I know this is not S2000 related but I'm so excited and wan to share some. This is the Roar before Rolex 24 at Daytona
First practice went well. The team utilized it mainly for checking and shaking down the car to make sure all ok. My established team mate took the duty.
First time ever in Daytona and first time ever in the car. I was very timid and don't want to take risks resulting lap time of 2:13.xx. While my team mate was turning 2:06.xx and showing me the rope. I was only able to do 3 laps as time expire.
Second session my team mate took the first stint and was able to turn 2:05.8x. I got into the car at half way point and getting into the grove quickly. I was getting more comfortable and able to turn 2:06.5x.
Not bad. New team, new car, new track and I can be within 0.8 seconds to my established team mate. Hopefully tomorrow we both can go faster!
Race is 2 weeks away. Root for us!

I checked out the website and saw you in the Bimmerworld F30 328i.
How does the car compare to the s2000 - heavier, i'm guessing, but more torque with the turbo?
Was Turner Motorsports out there in a similarly prepped car?
I've purchased parts both from Bimmerworld and Turner back when I had my e30.

Unfortunately our go pro acting up and we didn't get any video. But we are putting smartycam starting next race. So there will be video with some data!

The car definitely not as nimble as the s2000 and it doesn't move as fast as the s2000. It doesn't make that much more power than the s2000 but it is 300 lbs heavier. We also run skinny tire 225/45/17 and no aero. So it is very interesting
Wow surprised there wasn't a smartcam in the car, seems crazy! I thought I saw a motec system in the dash perhaps it was the new mxl2? If so how did you like it? By the way happy to lend you/Pete my smartycam as a 2nd rear cam if your allowed to use it.
We are working to have asmartycam installed. Rule says something like I can't post more than 5 minutes of clip at a time or something to that effect. Will find out more soon.

I went there for my first time in November with NASA. Best I could do was a 2:15. Fun track, worth the trip and considering going back this November. I bet by race day you will be close to 2:00. Do well and thanks for keeping us updated.
