Default DE Camera Mount

Has anyone modified the modifry camera mount to try and reduce the vibration? I have the one that mounts above the "hidden compartment".

I'm using a sony cx110, and the amount of vibration is incredible.

Surely someone has tweaked this mount...

Does your camera have optical image stabilization?

Yes, but it doesn't seem to help much if at all.

If you shove a rag between the secret compartment lid and the glove box it helps a little.

I have the same mount and I don't have any issues, so not sure what to tell you.

I use the same as well and no issues here. Is the camera heavy?

I could never get my camera with optical image stabilization to work with any mount.
In the end I found out that optical IS won't work but digital or no IS is best.

I used felt pads that you can get from osh or lowes to secure the lid from easily moving around.

What kind of camera are you using? I have a cheap camcorder which shoots video that looks fine. I bought a fancy point-and-shoot because it's capable of shooting HD video, only to find that its image stabilization was much worse, resulting in unwatchable video.

Maybe you just need a device (camera or camcorder) that's got better built-in image stabilization.

Most likely, the culprit is the camera's sensor as it uses CMOS technology instead of CCD. Basically, any movement whether large or small (like vibration) causes the rolling shutter to act up resulting in "jello" looking video.

There probably isn't a less motion prone part of the car considering you're already smack dab in the middle of the car. Zooming out should help make it more bearable.

If you really want to do some awesome videos, get a GoPro HD. Great video and a resilient package

I used weather stripping under the lid of the secret compartment, all but completely eliminated what little vibration I had.
