Default Elise like rollcage

I am thinking of getting the rollcage, seat, harness combo this winter. I do mainly track events and plan on only having one race seat.

Has anyone done an Elise type rollcage on the S2000? With a diagonal crossbar that would attach to the passenger floor area. I am thinking about it, because it would seem to be strong and simpler to attach.

It would be a welded rollbar and since I am 5'7, the bottom of the rollbar can sit behind the seats, closer to the front from where I have seen most rollbars installed.

What do you guys think? I do not mind sacrificing the passenger seat.

Adding that forward brace should improve strength and rigidity of the rollbar, so should be an improvement for the track. Let us see the details when it's done. I assume this will be a track only car. It may pose a safety hazard if you are not fully strapped into your racing seat. If you plan to use the car on the street, you may want to make that forward brace removable.

Would you be using arm restraints?

In a cockpit that tight I'd be a little worried of my right elbow, wrist, or hand whacking that 45* bar in a rough O/C or wreck.

The Elda bar seemed pretty nice. Have you looked into that?

The bar is called a "Petty Bar". About a year ago, I had a local fabricator look into designing a rollbar. He was unable to achieve a sufficient rear brace angle to guarantee protection without a removable "Petty Bar". After much thought, I decided to install the Elda bar instead. I agree that the Elise design would be stronger, but I would only have installed the Petty Bar at track events. So, I would not have had protection at other times. Also, the carpet would need to be rolled back to place the bar and it might have prevented a passenger at the track.
