Default end fuel starvation at the track

ScienceofSpeed High Flow Fuel Surge Tank System

As many know, the S2000 experiences fuel starvation especially once race tires are used from lateral and acceleration G forces acting on the factory fuel tank which is not designed for the forces experienced on many S2000s that are used on the track. Factory powered cars may experience slight hesitation or power loss which although may feel insignificant, leads to measurable lap time loss. High horsepower cars can experience far worse - including ScienceofSpeed documented detonation caused engine failure from fuel starvation. The problem gets worse the higher the demand of engine from high horsepower applications. Dual fuel pumps in the factory tank do nothing to solve fuel starvation issues.

We are excited to release information on the new ScienceofSpeed High Flow Fuel Surge Tank System. This product combines the functions of two products: a "dual fuel pump hanger" with a fuel surge tank to offer both high fuel flow for high horsepower demands (over 1000 BHP with gasoline or 850 BHP with E85) as well as fuel surge protection. Dual fuel pump solutions as well as fuel surge tanks are nothing new to the market. However, after ScienceofSpeed experienced severe fuel starvation issues with the development of the ScienceofSpeed Unlimited S2000 race car and several solutions were tried - we were unhappy with the existing offerings and decided to develop our own solution which combines the benefits of high fuel flow with optimal fuel surge protection design.

Just had something very similar built. Having it custom fab'd, cost an arm and a leg. Wish this had come out a few months earlier. Any track data logging showing GForce to fuel pressure stock vs with this setup?

Wish this was allowed in my class. I experienced this for the first time last weekend.

interested in how this mounts and what you have to remove? roughly how low could you run the tank with this?

Curious to see the mounting location, and actual installation photos.

I think he means how low of a fuel level in the oem tank can you run.

The surge tank can be mounted anywhere there is space for the 5" x 8.4" reservoir. We offer a bracket assembly that replaces the factory emissions control unit in the rear of the car. This places it behind the protection of the factory sheetmetal. Mounting it in this location would be for racing offroad use only since the emissions system is removed.

You could run the factory tank completely dry and have 30-60 seconds of fuel under wide-open throttle conditions. In reality, track use sees only about 10-20% of wide open throttle time, so in practical terms, this would likely be 2-3 times as long.
