Default endurance racing

I'm thinking about doing the enduro at Road Atlanta in Dec. It's an 8hr race and I was looking for brake pads that would last the entire race. I race on Carbotech xp10/8's for my sprint races, but I have my doubts that they could take the constant abuse of 8hrs. Are there any recommendations?

Don't drive as hard as you you do in a 30 minute race.

Pardon my ignorance but wouldn't the S have a hard time completing an 8 hour race. I would assume that the oil, cooling and braking systems would all be a bit lite? Then I guess we would have to start worring about cooling the trans and differential. I could not imagine how fun a race like that would be but I would have never dreamed I could do it in an S.

When I built some of my other cars these were all considerations, though I never got to actually run.

I say do it.

According to this:

the S2000 that ran the 25 hours of Thunderhill ran Cobalt Friction XR. I don't know if they allow pad change for that race...I assume not because changing hot pads is an exercise in melting your mechanics gloves to your rotors.

Many teams at the 25 hr do indeed change pads. That is where heat resistant gloves come in handy.

Thanks guys. I do realize that you don't drive as hard in an enduro as you would in a sprint race. With that said, any specific pad suggestions?

As for cooling other things...I've done 40min races in 95+ heat, and haven't had any cooling issues, with all oem equipment.

How long do cobalts usually last?

Regardless of the pad, make sure you have good brake ducting (both to the rotor and caliper if possible (2 ducts). It will make a world of a difference for long races like that.
