ERS help

Default ERS help

i have gc sleeve and koni yellow, can you all tell me what diameter and length springs i can use?

i have searched but no one has asked this before

that is really all I can say
not many people in here have used that setup it is more of a street thing.

I would assume its a 2.5 spring but you will need to measure to be sure

Or call Ground Control

The ground controls on my street car use a 2.5in spring. Length, I think, is 8in. On my racecar, I use the koni threaded sleeves that are very similar to the GC's --on those, I run a 2.25in spring, 6in length, with a near-zero-rate helper.

Interesting, Bryan. I use a standard 8" spring. Why would one go the route you have?

I think the main reason around the helper spring with a 6 inch is it makes easy to change springs cause you can compress the helper with just your hands.
if you have a full 8 inch spring it makes it harder.

that is just what I think and have no idea if its true.

I emailed GC, they said stock is 8 in tall and 2.5.
However he said a 7 inch one should be fine.

I would have to disagree with that theory as the improvised coilover does not currently have any tension on it when suspension is completely unloaded as in the case of being on jackstands, i.e. the spring tops do not touch the tophats. I was told this is not uncommon at all with such a setup.

Edit: Of course, if they did, I believe your idea would be a matter of interest.

Perhaps, but Bryan referred to the helper springs as near-zero stiffness. If that's the case, more travel is allowed. You'd have two inches of travel before you ever get to the actual spring doing anything. Dunno... maybe I'm looking at it all wrong. Hopefully Bryan will chime back in soon.

I guess it could be less coils makes for more liner spring rate?
taller coil softer spring but same spring rate as a shorter stiffer spring with the same rate

I hope what i am trying to say makes sense.
I am talking about the actual metal and not the spring overall.
