Default Falken 615's

I'm switching from the stock RE050's to the Falken 615's 215\255. Even in these sizes, the Falken's have 8" of tread in the front and 9.4" in the back. The stock REO50's have only 6.7" front and 9" rear. The stagger is decreasing from 2.3" to only 1.4". I'm a little nervous about oversteer.

What pressures (cold) do you run with these at the track and how much more air should I put in the front to help compensate? I was thinking 35 rear and 37-38 front. I would appreciate any comments or suggestions. Thanks!

Thanks Jasonjm. The car it totally stock. Big Willow, Streets, Buttonwillow and HTM are the tracks I see most.

I'm still a bit concerned that I may see oversteer due to the larger contact patch up front.

Can you double check on your sizes? Are you sure your getting 215s?

I think with 215s you'll be ok.

Any wider and i'm sure you'll see unwanted oversteer.

I think the Azenis are over-hyped, the stock RE-050's gave much better feedback, worth far more than the little extra grip the Azenis provide.

Of course if cost is the driving factor then the Azenis will definetly save you money.

Just my 2 cents.

You do not want to look at the nominal tread width distance, but the relative difference between the front and the rear. Doing so, you get...

Stock = 205f and 245r, so 245/205 = 1.20

Your setup = 215f and 255r, so 255/215 = 1.19

This is very simplified, as we all know not all tire tread widths are created equal, so factor that into the above. Regardless, thee is not that much of a difference in relative widths, so you'll be fine.

I used 35lbs front and back and the car handled exceptionally well! I would suggest using that as a baseline and adjusting from there.

It's kind of a money thing for me at this point. I do like the RE050's, but I've burned up the most recent set in 4 months which includes about 9 track days. A new set of RE050's including mounting and balancing is about $800 compared to $575 for the Azenis.

I understand - though I hated the Azenis so much I found a 180,000 mile daily driver and bought R-comps for the S

Thank you for the comments. I'm starting to feel very nervous about this purchase. The feedback on the Tire and Wheel forum has been largely positive, though the people who post there may not be tracking the car. What did you hate about them?
