Finally cracked urged 2 piece rotor
#12
Great to hear about the durability of these rotors. I just tracked my s2000 with the rear flow rotors for the first time this weekend at NJMP Thunderbolt. Wow what a difference. Probably best thing I ever did for the car. Brakes and pedal feel were solid by end of weekend today, no change in pedal feel.
Previous setup:
Front = Stoptech ST40 w/ project mu club racer pads w/ brake ducting
Rear = stock solid rotors w/ project mu club racer pads (no ducting)
Fluid = Motul RBF600
Current setup brakes:
Front = Stoptech ST40 w/ project mu club racer pads w/ brake ducting
Rear = urge rear flow rotors w/ carbotech XP8 (no ducting)
Fluid = Castrol SRF (believer now lol!)
Rear Rotors temps were 325 - 360 F with new setup. Previously temps were 600F+ with stock solid calipers + project mu club racer pads and no ducting. This data was same car/setup/track other than rear brake rotor/pad changes.
I did change 3 things but now my pedal is solid and consistent throughout each session and by the end of the weekend. Previously I believe my brake fluid would boil since temps were above wet boiling points of brake fluids, causing my pedal to become mushy by end of track day. Having solid brakes gives me a lot of confidence now in car. Also decided to bite the bullet and use Castrol SRF and wow my pedal feel doesn't change at all, definitely worth the extra $$ if your tracking hard. Previously I used motul RBF600.
Last change I may do to brakes now is upgrade the front pads to Hawk DTC-70 (more aggressive pad) to increase front brake bias since my front temps are very well controlled with the St40s and ducting.
