Default First time at 1/4 mile track results

Last night was my first time ever running my s2 since i got it roughly 2 weeks ago. My first attempt resulted horribly! I was at the staging lane and i was reving between 5-5500rpm with the clutch half engaged, when the light turned green i let of the clutch and hit the gas and the car slipped like theres no tomorrow. I was so upset thinking my clutch is gone. The times resulted:
60'-2.666 (ZzZzZz)
1/4-15.3@93.4

I then talked to my friend who was with me (224whpBERLINA) and he said its not the clutch and to do more of a dropping technique rather then slipping the clutch. So 2nd run I managed.
60'-2.370
1/4-15.0@93.6
For my last run I reved it a little higher and came out the hole better resulting in,
60'-2.28
1/4-14.55@94.8

Each run Im shifting right when the red lines flash (9200?) What do you all think of the times? Its a bone stock s2k. keep in mind im in FL where it was hot as balls last night with humidity out the asss.
BTW- i noticed when i was shifting i heard this sound like a little whistle, sounds kind of like a B.O.V. Any clue what that could be??

Before someone says something that might be rude...let me welcome you to S2ki. I know it looks like this is the right forum in S2ki to post 1/4 results, however the Racing & Comp forum is for people who like to turn right and left really really hard.

1/4 mile results are welcomed in the Street Encounters forum of S2ki. Perhaps a mod can help this post find it's way there.

94mph seems 4-5mph off where you should trap. unless your in denver or something.

the sound is the serpentine belt slipping when you shift.

if its any consolation...im in FL and im trapping right around there the 2 times ive been... were pretty close to sea level, but i wonder if the high humidity can make the difference?

im sure my shifting can use some help too... but the car should be trapping ~98-100 if conditions are right...

This really isn't that bad of an ET in the heat of the day.

One thing I didn't notice was mileage on the car; what state of tune it was in(recent valve adjustment or fluids change),or tire pressures

Good launch technique is vital and buzzing it to 9200 is a mistake IMHO;try shifting @ 8000 and run it thru the traps in 4th gear

See if that doesn't help

the car has 28000 miles. If i shift at 8000 ill fall out of vtec for a second..
as far as the serpentine belt, is that normal?? tire pressure is stock, as well as everything else. im working on getting a spoon ecu from a friend and a test pipe, when funds come in.

At most dragsrips if you compete in a convertible and run 13.99 or quicker they will require a rollcage;keep that in mind.

I would also play with tire pressures but you'll need a good air tank and tire gauge for that.

my dragstrip requires helmet then not rollcage.
