First Time at Summit Point
I did a two-day event at Summit Point Main Circuit two weeks ago, with the Shattenbaum PCA. This was my second track-event ever, but have been autocrossing for 4 years.
The event was awesome, my instructor was great, and they signed me off to drive solo for my last two sessions. It was an amazing feeling working up to my comfortable limit everywhere on the track. It took me a while to get used to the amount of braking that these cars are capable of(I think it was mostly a mental-thing; not being used to hitting the brake pedal that hard for extended periods). Once I got the hang of it, things were awesome. (When I started to carry more speed through T4, I needed the extra confidence on the brakes.)
Seats are the next thing I need to do to the car, I spent too much energy trying to keep myself from sliding around in the seat. (But I want to spend that money on more track days!
)
RPF1 17x9"+45
255/40/17 Dunlop Star Specs
Saner FSB set to medium
Carbotech XP10 Front XP8 Rear
2.5" Brake Ducts
Hard Dog Roll Bar
AEM V2 Intake
Berk 3" Exhaust
Here is a video of one of my last sessions, I was wondering if you guys have any tips?

Thanks for looking!

Good driving... here is a video of me driving that will give you some insight

Thanks for sharing that. I probably could have gone into second for T1 and T5 but I felt more comfortable going to third for whatever reason. I'll try that next time. I found it curious that you were short shifting into 4th before T8, why was that? If you stay in third do you end up on the limiter through T9?
I don't have time to look at your video right now (I will later today), but here's my instructional "Fast Lap Around Summit Point Main" web page: http://robrobinette....mitPointLap.htm

Connor,
Very nice driving! It's hard to believe it's only your second track event, but that's what 4 years of autocross will do for you--give you a nice, steep learning curve

Here's my comments:
You're turning into Turn 10 a little early which caused you to have to come off the throttle at corner exit several times which hurts you all the way down the straight. Delay your turn in about 20 feet and you'll be able to go to full throttle just after turn in and keep it there.
You passed a couple of cars between Turns 2 and 3 and were slightly slower and off line for the Turn 3 entry. You should have down shifted a gear before Turn 3 since you were slower through the uphill Turn 3. Working through traffic can change the preferred gear for pretty much any corner.
You can carry more speed into Turn 5--it has a lot of positive camber. I also recommend you aim for the middle of the track for the Turn 5 entry. As you get quicker through Turn 4 you will be forced to enter from the left side of the track but right now you have plenty of time to point the car toward the center of the track for the entry.
At around the 6 minute mark you pass a Miata after Turn 10. I would suggest you leave a little more room between a slower car and yourself at the entry so you can hit Turn 10 (the most important turn on the track) at full speed, and stay on the normal line--line up right behind him as you close on him to get a little draft and make sure he see's you in his mirror to give you the point by.
Nice job Connor and welcome to Summit Point.

Rob, thanks for the comments. I had watched a few of your videos, along with reading your instructional page on the circuit, and it was extremely helpful. Thanks for posting those!
I see what you mean about passing that car after T10, your theory makes total sense. I hope to get back to Summit Point sometime, but being in college and paying for track days gets tough.
I really appreciate the replies!
