Default Fixed seat mounts

I am ordering the Recaro SPG with the steel mounts and am trying to find out what anyone is using to mount them into an AP2. I was thinking about fabricating steel brackets to use the stock mount holes and then bolting the side mounts to them. I am open for any ideas. Want to figure this out prior to getting them in. Trying to keep it FIA approved.

I have fix mounted my Recaro Pro Racer SPA Hans with the aluminum recaro side mounts.

I spot weld drilled out the factory forward mounts.
Then coped a 1*2" tube to the floor profile and fully welded as a lateral brace/mount for the forward points. Before welding I welded vertical tubes in the 1*2 to act as compression supports where the fasteners for the seat bracket line up. I also welded .120 reinforcement plate on the underside to the floor where the fasteners pass through.
Next on the left side I welded 0.5"*1" tube longitudinally to act as a support rail and match the height of the right rear inboard mount (the floor is raised here)
Again the floor is reinforced underneath at the rear inboard point with the .120 sheet.

I feel this gives the lowest possible seating position without sectioning out the floor and eliminates any chance of slider/bracket failure and maintains FIA approval.

That is some pretty detailed work. Do you know what is required to keep it FIA?

I thought FIA just req'd use of 1/8" steel or 5mm Al for the mounts? I'd be interested to see their specs if available (haven't found it online).

as long as you are using an FIA approved side mount that is securely attached and not on a sliding rail there should be no issue maintaining FIA approval. There are no sliding rails that meet FIA approval that I am aware of.

Sparco USA mounts are built to be FIA approved from what Sparco has told me.

Sparco has a 3 piece system. Bracket, side mount and sliders. All 3 are purchased separately and the sliders probably aren't FIA. it's most likely just the side mounts, tho it may be the bracket and side mount. You would need to call and ask probably
