Welder gone wild! . Dang, you Canadians know how to build a solid cage! Impressive.
Have you checked to see if a driver can get in and out of it reasonably easily? I'd consider getting a helmet restraint or seat with those high wings to prevent impact with that extra piece in the side window area (I'd actually weigh the safety benefits of the extra strength provided by that piece vs. the safety benefit of an easier exit in emergency).

Obviously a lot of meticulous work is going into your car.

My seat is a Recaro Pro Racer SPG XL (the one with the wings). The part you are speaking of is less of an issue than it seems. It's there because that's where the "wing" of the seat is. If I had a wingless seat it would be smaller but there was no need to do so in my case.

As to get getting in and out all I can say is that for a guy 6' 1" tall and weighing in at 269lbs it's possible, but not easy and certainly not dignified or graceful

The inside will be painted arctic white this week with just the black seat and dash. The battery goes back to behind the passenger seat with the cutoff installed in the dash where the radio controls normally go (above the start button). I'll probably get a thin CF panel to cover the top of the trans tunnel. Weight box goes on the floor of the passenger well.

The top will be painted red on the outside and have a lexan window installed. The front windshield will remain glass.

I hope to have final done finished pics next week.

What are these open tubes for? Are they just how the welder chose to tie things together?

Nice color!!

Where is your dash? Tell tony to stop being lazy and weld in some mounting brackets (and send me my a-arms and BSK while he's at it)

The open tubes have bolts in them. In the back they are the bolts for the rear subframe. On the trunk they are for the wing mounting brackets.

The tubes with the subframe bolts are actually 14" long, you only see the top 4". They extend down through the main frame beams to the bottom of the channel.

Good Erik. I'm sure you'll also have a good fire system with nozzles well placed in the cabin.
