Default Good test day at Mosport today

I had a chance to get some testing in at Mosport today. Didn't get a lot of laps in but got some good setup done.

I've got some new Moton Club Sport installed with 650# springs. Way too soft. I'm going to go to 1000#. Had some rear toe problems but managed to do a MacGyver alignment with a pack of gum and a paper clip and got the rear toe sorted (I was toe out 5/8" on the right!).

I'm not getting enough downforce from my wing but I ran into someone with a waterjet who can cut be new brackets to raise it and set it back another 4 inches.

I'm having a weird issue with my Apexi N1 exhaust. I thought I was rubbing my tire on the fender when I'd gets this burrring sound in corners but while looking at another issue I noticed that the top of my exhaust and the flange which connects the two halves is being chewed by the bolts connecting the CV joint to the diff. The exhaust flange which sits right there is worn almost completely through and the pipe is almost completely sliced open. Under load the exhaust is swinging into and being eaten by the drivetrain. Something to fix.

The problem I was looking for was related to a black coat of tar which covers the diff pumpkin and some other parts of the underside combined with a smell of burning oil on the back straight. It turns out I have a pinhole in my oilpan at one of the welds in my TCD oil pan. Under high pressure I'm blowing a mist of oil which is getting on the tranny, diff and exhaust, hence the smell. My TCD pan is going in the trash and I'll put a spare pan on instead.

All in all a good day with a good list of things to work on

Not the first problem I hear with those pans. Are you running a dual exhaust?

Check you diff mount bushings. They are fluid filled and if they have leaked out their fluid then they are likely allowing the diff to change position more than normal under load.
I bet you thats the cause of your exhaust / CV interference.

Try some JB weld on the pan and keep it as a spare.

There are atleast two Singles that offer a bracket that mounts to the right side rear diff mount and than connects via a rubber hanger to the exhaust. This stops them from swinging. The Amuse is one I can think of but I can't find a picture. All singles swing like that because of the stock hanger locations. The diff hanger is off-set and stops that from happening.

If/When I install another single, this will be a requirement. You made an ever better reason for it too.

I'll have the hangers changed but I'll still need to chop out the damaged chunk of tubing and the flange and have it replaced.

Yup, I'm gearing up for the last two weekends. I'm also doing the 3hr enduro on the 15th, davepk is flying up to co-drive.

I've been out for most of the season for various reasons
