Default hard top vs. roll bar

So Hooked on Driving has changed their convert. requirements. NO factory roll hoops allowed in the Advanced group. My question:

I do about 1 HPDE a month. I am not sure how long I plan to keep the S2000 as I like to continue to drive different cars. I wonder if a HardDog roll bar or a fractory hardtop is the way to go if it will allow me to run in the advance group and later prepare the car for sale. Opinions???

It's not either or. Hard tops are not structural, so they will still require you to get after market roll protection.

So with all the hardtops on the market, NONE are structural?

It would only be structural if Honda had made the S2000 a coupe. No add-on hard tops are structural in any convertible car.

You may want to look into other open track organizations before you invest into your car.

Hooked on Driving has their rules just like each track has their rules. I would ask both before making a decision. If you do one event a month then you already know what other organizations run what tracks in your area. Hope this helps.

Yep. Agreed. Thanks and I love it when the answer is so easy.

Although your structural comment is correct, some sanctioning bodies allow OEM hard top when the roll bar is not tall enough. The reasoning being (im assuming here) that although it will still crush down it will prevent your head from dragging along the ground and will be better than nothing (that or its just the way their insurance works)

Cliff notes: HoD may allow just a hard top like SCCA does
