Default FI with stock internals

I'm currently tracking my car with a vortech supercharger at 8.5psi, i dont do wheel to wheel racing and i mainly go to time trials and open track days. reliability was good and i never faced overheating issues before.

since the time attack events i participate in are facing more and more competition, im considering increasing my boost. how much boost can i run before i get into reliability issues? considering that i dont go for more than7 laps in a 5.4km circuit in each run.

im posting this in R&C forum since the question is track related and not street oriented. any help is appreciated

How hot does the ambient temperature get at your open track days? You say you are in Kuwait -- is that where you are tracking? Gets pretty hot in the summer there, right?

yeah you are right about the temps in kuwait's summer. but i mainly do the tracking in Bahrain during the fall/winter/spring seasons while avoiding the hot months (June to September).

so the wheather is cool mostly and sometimes abit humid.

i also just purchased a racing radiator (mishimoto rad).

I have a similar setup. I have been running about 10 psi with no reliability or heat issues (I monitor booth coolant and oil). I am installing a 3.2" (~12/13 psi) pulley here in the next couple days and will be doing 2 events at those psi's here in August.

That being said, I run water/water wetter for coolant with minimal anti-freeze during these months and I have a large oil cooler. I also run 91 octane on the street and 100 octane on the track with no timing advance...purely for detonation prevention on track days.

The biggest problem I've had has been my intake air temps...you will likely experience this too if you log them and run on a hot day. I have been thinking up creative solutions as I don't want to run meth injection and I already have an upgraded Spearco front mount aftercooler radiator.

Good luck!

thank you for the feedback guys

im running 94 octane fuel. i guess 10psi would do for what i need power wise.

Courage007, what is the size of the pulley u are currently using to get 10psi of boost? my current pulley is 4.5" yielding 8.5psi. should i downsize it to 4.0"?

thanks.

I am running a Novi 1000 (aka Comptech) supercharger so our pulley sizes won't be comparable. Mine was a 3.6" and I just received my 3.2" today. If you ran a 3.2 pulley on your Vortech, I suspect you'd be making A LOT of boost. hehe

Good luck!
