Hardtop or Rollcage?
While instructing at an Evo school in Salina, I had my helmet cracked on an unpadded rollbar in a r-comp equipped Miata on grippy concrete.. We were heading into a skid pad type maneuver to the right and the student flicked left before going right.. When she flicked left, I was already tensing muscles on my right side in preparation for the right. The flick left along with being prepared for the right caused my head to contact the unpadded rollbar with enough force to crack my helmet and ring my bell. Hate to think what would've happened if I hadn't had a helmet on like a fender bender/rollover.
When I had my Miata with the Hard Dog DD roll bar, I covered it in SFI padding and the that in softer offset rollbar padding due to the hard surface of the SFI padding.

Never drive a fully caged car without a helmet.
4pts are usually pretty safe depending on the mounting position. If driving without a helmet anywhere, It's recommended to use padding in the possible contact areas.
