Default Has anyone removed the ABS unit?

I've removed my ABS and use the car mainly for the track.

The brake feels a bit spongy after removal and I am wearing out the rear left brake more than the rear right (in an Australian delivered S2k). Has anyone removed their ABS and did you have to use another master brake cylinders to reroute the brake fluid or did you use the oem one?

I think the ABS also controls the brake bias. Not sure, though. However, a lot of ABS cars are set up for 50/50 brake bias because if they lock up the rears the ABS will take care of it anyway.

Without the ABS, you probably want to change the brake bias. Maybe even install a cockpit-adjustible setup.

I am thinking the same line as you Mike.
In some car, the ABS not only modulate F/R but also L/R.
In the nissan skyline the non abs model has 3 ports out of the mast cylinders; 1 for each front brakes and 1 for both rear. The ABS nissan skyline has only 2 exit ports in the master.

The older S2000s have a three-channel ABS system. The front wheels are sensed and controlled individually. The rear wheels are sensed individually but controlled together.

FWIW, my ABS is non-functional, and the car is totally driveable at the track. Fronts lock before rears (critical).

AFAIC, ABS, VSA, stability control, etc. are all good ways to keep people from learning how to drive...

On my MY06 w/ Ctech XP10/8, the rears lock up first.

Just out of curiosity, did you use brake lines from the MS to the proportioning valve? How much weight do you think you lost with the ABS removal?

Do MY 06+ have 4 channel ABS?

The thought of removing ABS crossed my mind a few times, but the car seems to have a lot of rear brake bias, really likes to swap ends under hard braking.

Check your own car's info, but I'm pretty sure the VSA cars all have four-channel ABS. They probably also have "EBD", which is a computerized brake biasing system.

the abs is so good in our car. Unless you're in a series that requires you to replace it. Put it back

Well if Krazik says so then it will go back in
Krazik, is the ABS still as good if I have a set of Wilwood 13" at the front?

I took it out because the turbo heat damanged it. I have a replacement but have not put it back in yet.

I agree, its very good. I did a full wet day back in december, and I was amazed. You can completely steer the car when engaged. In the dry it it can help in certain situations, especially if on street tires.
