Hi all. I'm posting up to share a few images that might help some other folks.

I did this in order to drop a little weight and because I happened to have a set of beat up OEM headlights I had disassembled so I could sell off the hid housings.

These images should help explain how the lenses/plugs are situated. The key is that there is a tab w/ hole on the fender stamping hiding away on the underside. I have no idea what that tab was even for.




Aluminum strips 90° bends and adjustment slots are all that's needed to hold the bottom side of the light at two locations.

 

I'm struggling to see the benefit.

Aren't the headlamps combined, maybe 10lbs? So, gutting them is a insignificant amount of weight savings.

However, I can see where having the headlamp lens cut to be used as ducting. That would be far more beneficial. Are the lens glass or plastic?

 

This is the Racing and Competition section... 10lbs off the nose past the front axle, weight savings adds up.

i made a scoop on the passenger side of my car, that ducts into an intake box. i think i will do this to the other side.

 

I have a similar idea but it's less about weight. My headlights I've already replaced once and I can't stand clarity.

Good job, bet during daylight they look funny without any guts.

 

Paint the inside of the lens flat black...

 

I removed my headlights because I broke my stock ones racing and didn't want to spend the money to put a new set in. I made my own out of kydex for 25 bucks total...

 

Nice post david, Im finally going to do mine. Moving up to unlimited so no use for street car stuff.
