Headlight replacement covers
HI all,
I've removed my headlights and looking for some carbon or plastic covers / blanks to put in their place. Does anyone on here sell them?
I've just got 3M tape on there at the moment
Thanks

You can just gut all the internals of the lights, leaving the lenses but I could do with keeping mine in case I need them. I did think of a spare set but would prefer some blanks and put some LEDs in them
Ah ha!!!

I sent GT Motoring a PM to see if they still make the headlight covers. I mentioned there are 3 or 4 of us that would want a set. We could open a "group buy" thread too if they're still available.

Here's GT Motoring's response:
Rob,
Unfortunately we no longer have the mold for these as we made the first 2 proto sets in Korea when we used to make some carbon there. For the past 2 years, we do everything domestic now. If we have a few guys looking for them, i can look into doing them as a limited production item. We really only made the other ones for the race car before. It was just the basic shape and does not include any mounting tabs as we epoxied them to our carbon fenders. Let me know what you think.
Thanks,
Greg

The basic process is pretty simple. You wax the headlights very well, then brush or spray on a layer of PVA release film. I just used paper towels. You let the PVA dry and it protects the part from the resin. Then you lay up a fiberglass mold. I've still got my molds in my parts bin somewhere, but I just molded the outer contour, not any of the mounting bits. I mounted them to the car by drilling holes around the headlight opening and using zipties. I'll have to see if I can find some better pictures.
