Help, Auto-X classes
would it be pushed into a mod class?
Wesmaster drove an autox in Houston with his SC'ed S2k a few weeks ago - it wasn't held by the Houston region SCCA - to my knowledge. I posted a question asking who hosted it and what class he was placed in, but I dont think he looked back to respond.

okay, I think I got it:

If you read the part from the Street Prepared engine category, it states
"Turbochargers may not be added, changed or modified."
Guess that means, adding a super/turbocharger is going too far... There are some other interesting things in there too that are worth reading about. Most bolt-ons would keep us in street prepared though. Although it says
"Air ducts may be fitted to the brakes, provided that they extend in a forward direction only, and that no changes are made in the body/structure for their use."
Does that mean we can't cut out fake brake ducts in the front bumper to use as real brake ducts? Not that this would make any difference in an auto-x anyways, but this is my next mod that I'm planning.
So, that means a supercharged S2000 would be in D Mod, since our cars are over 1000lbs with a displacement under 2000cc. Imagine would bad our cars would be killed in that class. [on edit] actually, I know of a supercharged Mustang that runs in C-Prepared, so I think a supercharged S2000 would be alright in prepared, but I don't know which class though.

A Street Prepared S2000 would be in CSP... though its not elligible to compete in any National level event in any SP class yet, because it has not been specifically classed.
A superercharger would bump you into E Mod... true if you have less than 2.0 liters of motor you can go into DM, but super/turbocharging counts as 1.4 times displacement... so into EM you go.
Cutting holes for brake ducts in the front facia also bumps you into Mod... not prepared. In Prepared, you can remove the headlights and use those holes for brake ducts, but you cant cut any new ones. You can also add a front spoiler below the front grill of the car and you're allowed to mount brake ducts to that as well.
Clear as mud eh?
Were you to build a Prepared S2000, you'd be in AP.
Actually no. Its not legal to add a supercharger in Prepared. Probably the only reason why this guy is running in CP is because he's only doing it locally and nobody cares enough to protest him. He most likely wouldnt get away with it at a national level event.
hope that helps.

j2k,
You don't have to cut the bumper to put them in, you only remove a couple screws to remove the plasic piece.
I still don't understand what the diff between Mod and Prep is tho.
