Default Help getting started

Alright so im gonna try to get this split off so if you dont want to read the whole thing you only have to read the important parts.

My goal:
I want to get into autocrossing. Howevever i have no idea how to do this. I live in southern indiana which i know there was an autocross meet in evansville 2 weeks ago but i was at work . So can someone give me a link on somewhere to follow? Ive read the rules and such stickied on the page but not sure what to do after that.

My car:
I have an 04 with 115k miles. aem v2 cai, invidia tp, invidia n1 exhaust, and motegi tracklites.
Tires- looking into buying some star specs, however what size should i go with? just the stock setup or do most people run different sizes? i think i can run 255s on the rear but i would just like some opinions.

Suspension- my rear shocks are starting to go so im looking into buying some coilovers as i would like to lower it a tad. Now would this elimate me from the stock class or is there still hope? Im looking at the bc racing coilovers (after seeing thishttps://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/861880-bc-racing-br-coilovers-review/) as i wouldnt like to spend to much more than 1k on a decent set to start out with.

Alignment- whats the best setup to start out with? This is my weekends and soon to be track car. So it doesnt get all that many miles put on it

Reason im interested
Well i have a good paying job, 19 live on my own and my car is my only real hobby. Last night i was playing around with some friends like usual, passed one right before an offramp, braking unsettling my car got it restabilized right before i tapped the rumble strips entering the offramp doing around 85, with bad tires and rear shocks going out i lost control and slid off into the ditch. Somehow im fine and my car has no damage. But it has made me realize theres no reason i should be doing that on the street so i want to get involved in autocrossing or going to some tracks, however autocrossing seems more convienent but i may be suprised.

Any suggestions or help in any of the topics would be greatly appreciated. I have done a fair amount of research but i would just like some other info to my questions. Im pretty settled on star specs but as suspension goes im not sure what would be allowed in scca and if i find any tracks nearby.
Thanks!

www.scca.com

There's a lot of information there, but it's a little dense.

There is a "contact people" on the site for autocross here. There is also sccaforums.com where you might be able to find people in the region.

You are already out of stock class with your mods. It sounds like "STR" would be a good fit for you. Random1 has made some great links in the FAQ for setup. Including alignments and ride heights.
