Agreed. I got tired of "Waiting for Harold," so it was time to find a solution which got me a hitch. A week after contacting Doug Chase, I had my hitch installed.

I can take the hitch off at the track without jacking up the car. Of course, putting it back on after a track day, before the exhaust has had a chance to cool off, is a bit more dicey--When the exhaust is still scalding, I need to jack up the rear end, and wear gloves (a nice way to get double duty out of driving gloves--good suggestion, Mike!). Very little weight is still on the car at the track, and yet it's a very strong hitch.

I use the Doug Chase hitch. My trailer weighs about 150 pounds; four wheels/tires adds about another 200 pounds. Tools, etc. would be at least another 50 pounds, so I'm hauling at least 400 pounds. I probably have a tongue weight of about 40 pounds. No problem with it; I start gently, never accelerate fast with the trailer in tow, and try to avoid any sudden stops.
