I was under the impression that your RX-7 had an LSx conversion done to it. No?
Yep. Even with the LS it weighs what the S2k did.

The LSx FD/FC can be stupid fast. How ready are you for this?
Because it is fast, it will eat parts (brakes, etc).

S2k is relatively maintenance free and less stressful on the track (and off, in terms of work needed).

Swapped cars get killed in TT until you are going to TTS/U.

I have an S2k and a C5 (non Z). I highly recommend either. The C5 (and more so a Z) will eat parts, but they are cheap to replace (if you stay stock). The S2k is much easier to drive b/c of no tork- I can mash the throttle just after turn-in on the S2k but the C5 requires some attention. There is lots of C5 knowledge as well, so it is easy to find setups, etc vs. with a swapped car, you are more likely to be on your own since most owners wrench more owners wrench vs race.

My LS1FC weighs 2650lb, 425+hp. With 335s out back (thanks to monster flares) it is still sideways up to 65+ from a stop. Kind of scary. FD's have it easier w/the Petit flares - you can achieve a similar size but will run into the points system in TTU/S - though w/R-comps you can get by with less. Spare parts can be had cheaper via a Mazdaspeed membership (run some auto-x to qualify) - but nothing like the Walmart-like world of C5 parts.

If you are experienced, have spare $ and can wrench, don't mind being in a top class, LS1FD. To me, the FD is the sexiest car evar under $100k (other than a Volvo P1800).

The S2k is still totally awesome. I've shared the car with my dad a few times for DEs and all it needs is gas. Seems like it could run laps all day, every day, with no problems. It is a blast to drive, you just give up the acceleration - not a bad thing if you haven't tasted the nectar of 350+hp/tq.
