Default Help me out track dudes

So I have detuned my car back to stock after running it for a few year in auto-x trim. With big comptech anti-sway that was on the front, I could achieve a good balance with 225's on all four corners.

Well, now the S2000 is more of a DD/ track car so I don't have to abide by any silly stock class rules. Thank god. What I would like to do is run the same wheel front and rear with the same tire so that I could rotate my tires/wheels for better tire wear.

Do you think I could accomplish a good mid corner balance with just spring rates and leave the stock swaybars? Has anyone tried this?

Thanks, Matt

So nobody's done any spring rate tuning?

Or maybe they just want to watch you have to flail around like they did.

If that's true... damn.

I already ordered some 500 in/lb springs for front and rear. I'll report on how that does for me.

I ran non-staggered 255's on two S2000's and both had stock front bar, most times no rear bar, though I liked it with the rear bar also. As long as you have a wing. One car had more spring in front, the other had more in rear, and they both felt balanced. Guess I'm an insensitive driver, but they both worked well for me.

Seriously, I think every car (s2000) is unique and you just have to try and test. Same setup can feel different in different cars IMO.

i run a non-staggard setup, 650# springs on all corners, stiffer front bar, no rear bar. It's pretty well balanced. The more tire you run the more spring you'll need.

Dang, that's a setup I would not have imagined working. Then again, I'm often surprised by what works on a track compared to what works on an auto-x course. I was hoping that the spring rate change alone would balance the car but it looks like from your set up that my car will be pretty oversteer prone with no stagger. I guess I'll just have to work it out.

Thanks!

I'm running KW v3 coilovers, with 515lb springs, stock front bar, and no rear bar. On the street, I run 225 tires all the way around, and I'm happy with it. I haven't tracked this setup yet, but I plan to run 245's on all 4.

I agree it depends on the car but more on the driver. I ran 16k springs all around with 225/255 with stiffer front sway and no rear. you would think a lot of understeer, but car felt pretty neutral.

What the? Allright, I guess I'm just going to have to find out for myself. Thanks for sharing setups and experiences. My springs arrive on Monday. I'll post up my observations.
