Default Honda Challenge s2000 to NASA ST4...

So I race a 2002 s2000 in the NorthEast Honda Challenge H1 series. I want to dabble in some ST4 but I am not sure if anyone else has made this jump. I was thinking of trying to stuff the 245/40/17 R7 hoosiers and giving it a try.

Power is 205whp
Weight is 2650ish

For ST4 I am sitting at 13.9 ratio instead of the 12 that I can be if I run R7s. This means I got to shed some serious weight (not easy at this point) or find 56whp

That would be the correct answer. Adjust weight if possible and throw on the 245 Hoosier R7s. You probably have enough ratio to run the A7s, but I'm not sure you will want to do that even in a sprint race format although the fast ST2/ST3 cars used to do it on Hoosier A6s.

I'd think you'd need 10" wheels to run 245 hoosiers (in a good way ). See if 949 racing is going to make their 17x10 +72s again (they have +52s right now, which might require too much fender modification)?

If you do go with another set of wheels...I want your Kosei's

I weigh 2688 with me (175lbs) and passenger seat installed so I don't know how much more I can go without getting really crazy cutting little tabs off that are left. I do want to go k24 if I leave HC.

I can't wait till 5/31 when I can order more from TireRack. I will be getting at least another 3 sets. Best wheels ever on s2000.

Also double check the aero rules. I think an OEM style lip can qualify as the allowed splitter, but if your hard top is not an exact OEM copy, It's not legal in ST4

I missed that but you are correct

2) Modification of the OEM roof line and/or removal of the front windshield/frame is permitted, but will be assessed via a Modification Factor in the “Adjusted Weight/Power Ratio”.
-0.3 is the factor.

Correct. Its legal. You take points for non OEM shape hard top and you also take 1 point for A7s (TT4/ST4).
OEM AP1 lip is legal. Throw on a splitter as well up to 4"

The splitter has made me slower on all times that I have tested it but I do like having the lip on the car. I may have to try the A7 too then.

Do you guys think the 245 hoosiers will fit with the wheel offset I have?

I should clarify, you'll take Negative 1 point for A7. But if youre not close to 12:1 its not an issue. 245 Hoosiers are just slighler wider than a typical 255 (10.2) IIRC. 245 Hoosier is 10.3
