Default Hondata FlashPro

Looks like FlashPro is out for the S2000 and only $100 more than the reflash.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this should be legal for both SCCA STR and NASA TT. I doubt that I'll play with it too much, but might be worth the difference in price to the reflash.

[not affiliated with Hondata blah blah blah]

Per NASA Time Trial Rules
49) OEM ECU/PCM reprogramming or chip (must use OEM ECU/PCM box/housing/hardware)
Per SCCA Street Touring Rules
F. The engine management system parameters and operation may
be modified only via the methods listed below. Any and all
modifications must meet or exceed the applicable EPA tailpipe
emissions standards for the year, make, and model of the car.
These allowances also apply to forced induction cars, except that
no changes to standard boost levels, intercoolers, or boost
controls are permitted. Boost changes indirectly resulting from
allowed modifications are permissible, but directly altering or
modifying the boost or turbo controls, either mechanically or
electronically, is strictly prohibited.
1. Reprogrammed ECU (via hardware and/or software) may be
used in the standard housing. Traction control parameters
may not be altered. Altered engine controllers may not alter
boost levels in forced induction engines.
2. Electronic components may be installed in-line between an
engine’s sensors and ECU. These components may alter the
signal coming from the sensor in order to affect the ECU’s operation
of engine management system. Example: fuel controllers
that modify the signal coming from an airflow sensor.
3. Fuel pressure regulators may be replaced in lieu of electronic
alterations to the fuel system. It is not permitted to
electronically modify the fuel system AND replace a fuel
pressure regulator.
4. Ignition timing may be set at any point on factory adjustable
distributor ignition systems.
5. VTEC controllers and other devices may be used which alter
the timing of factory standard electronic variable valve timing
systems.
6. All ST vehicles must comply with the EPA tailpipe emissions
test requirements as a minimum.

Yes it is legal for STR and evens out the advantage the older lighter car had.

I was thinking of this. But it really doesnt make sense to get the Flashpro over the regular Hondata reflash. I dont see the advantage of changing maps on the fly w/ a NA car (like an Accessport w/ Subarus & Mitsu). Although, one advantage of the FlashPro is the ability of a custom tune (albeit w/ a cost of ~ $500).

It's not released yet. Nov 9 at the earliest. I guess you'd call it a paper launch.

The regular tune from the reflash sucks. There is another 4-5hp to be gained almost everywhere.

This is what I was referring to. The reflash map is terrible and can't be customized. Therefore it is well worth the extra money to buy the flash pro.
