How To Avoid Ice Mode?
Photos don't show any sign of a wheel lifting, and nobody (including co-drivers watching carefully) have reported any such thing happening.
At its worst, it's as if I'm on ice; no ABS pumping, just sliding with very little slowing down, and a firm pedal.
I don't know the spring rates (I'll find out soon, when I get the car on a lift). It has double-adjustable Penskes, revalved by Ankeny for the S2000. I've tried all sorts of combinations of compression and rebound, front and rear, with little/no effect on the problem.
The national champion who drove my car says he solved the problem in his S2000 with some work on the rear brakes, but he's not sure what was done. I'm trying to find that out.

The first thing comes to mind would be the mismatched tires. If the pads are too aggressive for the tires (for instance PSS tires and ST43, happened to me in the past) you should definitely make sure you heat up to tires to the operating temps and/or work more on the threshold braking.
A few things to check for brake performance:
- TSB about the rear axle nut ( it was the case for the pad knock back on my 06 S2k at the first track event)
-Make sure your brake booster is not in the recall list
I also wouldn't use very different compounds between front and rear. very recently, a friend of us ended up cooking his rear brakes and caused leak in the rear brake pistons. This may or may not be the case for autox though.
It looks like you are local do you ever go to tracks in PNW? RMP, PR or ORP?
I have a scheduled event coming up this weekend, in fact I was about to post a new thread in regional section

My 08 set up for Bstreet with Stock shocks and stock brake pads does the same thing if you have a hard braking zone over a bump after a high speed section of a course. Car doesn't slow down and doesn't turn haha. Had to cut back my aggresiveness on that course. It will do it no matter what pads you use. I do find it is easier to be smooth with OE pads and they are cheap!
I raced Spec Miata for years, with Conference, NWR SCCA and Oregon Region SCCA, at PR and PIR. I stopped that in 2011, and haven't driven on a track since. My son is doing the LeMons race this weekend at the Ridge, and suggested that we both do today's track day, but I had a conflict. I love track driving (plus or minus poorly-driven fast cars holding me up), and may do it again.
