Default How to: Bottom Mount Recaro in 06+ Passenger Side w Weight Sensors

Hi S2Ki Performance Team,
I've got an '07 and bought a pair of Recaro SR4 Wildcats with Wedge "planted" floor brackets that would be great. BUT then I figured out the '06+ issues with weight and proximity sensors for airbags, especially on the passenger side. To compound the issue, I then figured out the SR4 only had bottom mounts for the bolt in. So, I read EVERY thread on here and elsewhere about it, many of them multiple times and saw that the only possible solution could be to cut off mounts on Buddy Club Super Down Low rails and cut off parts of the OEM rails and then somehow bolt them together and after several great threads, nobody actually carried it thought to conclusion, got it to Honda for a weight reset and made the airbags functional in real life. Compounding those threads were that they were with side mount seats, so I seem to be screwed.

So, I have this super clean, low-miles '07 and I really want these seats but the airbags on both sides must work, no give on that. I don't care if they go off with nobody in the seat, or if they go off at full strength, but they must be fully operational and no lights (and no bulbs removed). If not, guess I re-sell these gorgeous seats and just live with OEM.

I don't give up easy and have access to a guy who does a lot of custom welding for various sports and he even welded my magnesium bike frame for me so he is good.

I found a part-out on an '06+ and purchased the complete, total, OEM brackets, rails, weight sensors, cross piece, Takata joining box, electrical connections, EVERYTHING so I could keep my OEM seats and brackets complete for re-installation should I ever sell (or if I die on my bicycle and my family needs to re-sell). Hell, the seats are worth 10% of the car value alone!

I'm thinking of a) buying the buddy club rails that other's used, cutting off the floor mounting tabs as shown and bolting them to the OEM rails as per a couple of threads and try to make it work and get Honda to reset the computer to match the lower weight. Not really fully sure of how this all works, even with the posted pics and all of those posts show side mount seats so I may be further screwed.

It appears to me that the SR4 seats are too wide for the OEM rails but if I cut off the side mount "flanges" on each side, perhaps they may narrow up enough. Then I'm really not sure if there is a way to both mount something to the seat bottom and also not be blocked bolting those same "custom" bottom mounts to the OEM rails. So then I have to figure out how to both attach some kind of flat-bar mount like the Wedge "grid" to the seat and yet still have enough access to the rails to figure out how to weld some mounts to the remaining rails after the side flanges are cut away to mount to the bars on the bases and tighten everything up. I really fear that this process will lead to a fixed mount and the side to side and front to back will not line up with the mounts on the car even if I was successful in figuring out how to mount something to the seat bottom AND to the OEM rails without one or the other fitting actually BLOCKING the bolt access and ability to tighten them in place with some movement to make the floor holes line up.

I'll throw out the pictures I have, seriously, anyone who may have figured this out I am begging you to post here or PM me if you figured out a way to deal with the weight and proximity sensors on the passenger side and also figured out how to do the bottom mount bolt holes. I'm freaking out and about to throw in the towel as this is getting expensive and with no guarantees. I do have a good welder but, not sure about access and weather the final solutions can be calibrated with these bizarre sensors in the '06+ that nobody seems to have figured out how to make this work.

Anyone? Buller? Buller?

I use my stock slider with Kirkey road race seat. But it is on the driver side. I did cut some tap off the stock rail and bolt Kirkey side mount bracket to the rail then to the seat.

I you want I can take some pictures.

Thanks zpeed,
Yeah, I get that and have seen some cool pics of custom side plates bolted to OEM rails for side mount seats. My issues are that my seats are bottom mount only (no side-mount holes) and I have to deal with all these sensors on the OEM rails on the passenger side so not sure your solution is all that helpful but I do appreciate the offer. I'll let you know if I need to look at your solution, very nice to offer. Stuart

Anyone, Bueller? Is this bottom mount seat hopeless?

Did you ever manage to figure out how to mount the recaro sr4 seats to the 06+ s2000?

I have a set of recaro sr4 seats as well that need to be bottom mounted and have a 2007 s2000. Was wondering what seat brackets you went with in the end.
