You should have no problems getting 8 days out of the 71s. If it were me though, I'd probably go RS4s...they'll last you the whole year!

Unfortunately RS4 is no longer available in 17x255 width - only 245. Not a big difference, but a shame they dropped that size.

I just ordered a set of these for hpde. 225/255. What are optimum hot temps to run these at the track? Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Good news: TireRack shows them available again.

Paddy - That's great to hear! I heard they usually fall off at 6hrs, but I'm guessing this is with heavier cars. Obviously the drivers play a factor to this. Curious what spring rates you guys are running with the RE71's.

What about heat cycling the RE71 using a service such as from TireRack?

Would that extend the useful life? It's not a race tire, but seems to have many of the same characteristics.

I've got about 10-12 sessions on mine 215/245 and I'm ready to flip them for probably another 8 or so sessions.
I still haven't noticed any drop off in grip. They're on par with RA1 IMO..

RE71R dont heat cycle out which makes them great vs some of the RA tires especially for the weekend track guy

Yah I can safely say we've never run across a 6 hr fall off. In the enduros the first driver of the day ALWAYS complains about overall grip. They think the pressures are too high, they are just fine in reality. We thought about shaving the tire to mitigate it but we didn't want to be forced to change during an 8 hr in the garage. Being forced to do it in the garage is what kills yah with AER.

SOFT springs. I think it's 700/500 lbs but I'd have to look at my notes. I've run soft springs on the r comps too without any trouble. Backed up with a real deal shock and a high enough ride height.
