Default Ideal tire size for TTC

I'm in the process of building up my S for NASA's TTC time trial class. I've come to a roadblock in trying to figure out which tire size to run, as wider tire means less suspension mods. These are the two choices I'm stuck on:

1. P275/40R17, and I can run different shocks/springs (coilovers).

2. P255/40R17, and I can run shocks/springs and a front sway bar.

Or if I could find some 16x8.5 or 16x9s I could run the Kumho P265/45R16.

With the 275s there isn't enough room left in the class to run a sway bar. I was thinking that I could stiffen the front with spring rates.. I guess the question is, is that extra 20mm worth it?

The other factor is that I'll probably be using a 17x9 wheel, unless I could find a 17x10 or 9.5". I've use 275s on a 17x9 and they don't fit square like a 255 does (on a 17x9), so is it even really worth it?

Summed up: 275s = larger tire, but no front bar. 255 = smaller tire, but I can run a bar.

I can change spring rates though. The S2000 really got F'd this year with the 7 point bump.

You have 25 pts. for mods to stay in TTC. What else are you doing to your car that you can't run a front bar with 275's even if you're using Hoosier 275... +17? Your car looks pretty stock.

I'm going to make sure I can't get some points back for running such small tires in TTA. If that happens, I might be able to squeeze into TTB and be competitive.

You should check, but I highly doubt you'll get points back. TTD's base tires are 245's.

I vote 17x9 255 all 4 corners!
Ol' B.Peters seems to believe in the front sway pretty strongly!

I made a mistake in my calculations.. Right now I have the PSS9 shocks, which are a +7 shocks. I'm switching those out for something with the reservoir so I can get my 4 points back, but I didn't account for that when I ran the numbers.. so I was 4 points off with that, then another point off as i thought it was 24 max, not 25. Man, I suck at math.

So yeah, I can run 275s in TTC with the front bar. Kickass

Yeah, don't mess with Calvin. He's like a point/rule guru guy. He's Asian.
