Iphone mount/holder while autoxing (data only, no video)
As the subject says, I'm looking to start datalogging using Harry's Lap Timer during my autox events. I have a GoPro with a zillion mounts so I don't need the iphone for video, just datalogging (will probably use Race Render to combine, DashWare if more options are needed.) My issue is finding a method to mount the iphone where it is stable, has clear view to sky (GPS signal), won't fly off, and preferably somewhere I can access it easily to start/stop logging.
It seems this is a popular combo already (iphone/HLT + GoPro) but I'm not finding any info on where people are mounting their iphone.
- Windshield mount? (too shaky?)
- CD slot mount (does this work?)
- double-sided tape to an old case? (where to stick?)
- something else?
Thanks for the help.

Sounds like a plan, with the phone vertical (or horizontal perhaps) where are you duct taping? Pics?
a couple of other options:

Thanks all. Appreciate all of the ideas and options. The passenger netting is something I considered as well (being a fellow cheap ass.) Now that I know it has worked for someone I might start off with that as I figure out one of the other mounts (modifry options look nice.)

I used the exact same setup with a RAM iPhone 4 cradle when I had my iPhone 4. To fit the phone cradle onto the modifry bracket I had to bend the top portion of the modifry bracket flat and drill my own holes, but you don't notice. I think it's a great option for around $24.
