Default Koni: Really the way to go?

So right now I'm running the ASD springs with stock shocks. I know that it's questionable whether or not just springs help handling, but it seems that after dropping my car and installing my braces, the car "felt" more reliable in tight corners. I want to replace my stockies with something aftermarket before they start to wear to the point of lost handling.

It seems 90% of the owners here with springs run Yellows. However, I've heard a lot about them being "softer" than stock. I know you can dial them up to be pretty stiff, but in terms of actual performance and not just feel, will they help my handling any? I'm posting on this forum in hopes of getting something beyond "they feel way stiffer so they must be better"...

Thanks for the help guys

Is this a track or autocross related question?

Softer than stock in compression. Rebound is adjustable to be much stiffer than stock.

Sorry, maybe it is the wrong forum. I'm trying to get the car ready to run a few track days this summer, and there seem to be a lot of suspension questions in here... but maybe it should be moved. Just didn't seem to belong in UTH.

Sounds like you will be new to tracking the car. I wouldn't change anything further with the suspension, unless maybe to go back to completely stock. High-temp brake pads and fluid are all you will eventually need, and probably not for the first day or two on the track.

i don't have an AP2, so I can't tell you.

But for my AP1, stock was VERY nice. The only things I added to my car were SS lines and some better brake fluid, even my pads were stock.

I was expecting a nice handling car, but it performed beyond my expectations. I've tracked before, and I've tracked some very heavily modded cars, I also race TAG karts, but the AP1 was very impressive in my first HPDE with this car.

I'd suggest keeping it stock and just concentrate on tuning the nut behind the wheel. If you can run the car in stock form at her limits, you're probably capable of being in the Advanced group in most HPDE events.
