Thumbs up Koni shocks - any difference between AP1/AP2?

Can anyone tell me if Koni makes different shocks for AP1s and AP2s, or are the settings the same for all? How does this effect the handling of an AP2 over stock dampers? If Konis are sprung similar to AP1 rates, does that make them similar to CR dampers on an AP2?

TIA

Koni only makes one shock for the two generations of S2000. I don't know if anyone has dynoed them to be able to answer your last question.

IIRC OTS Konis are softer than OEM shocks on compression but stiffer on rebound.

Thanks - can I run Koni yellows on stock springs as well as 1" lowered springs down the road? Perhaps Eibachs?

^^ I am not 100% sure about running 1" lower, but I think 1" should be OK since people use them with Koni or GC coilover height adjustable sleeves. These people are Koni experts and should be able to answer that question: http://www.propartsusa.com/

Koni has some dynos available for some cars. I have seen for Civics and Integras (posted on honda-tech). Maybe they have for the S as well.

If you go to the location below you can see koni yellow dyno plots. I found this in another thread discussion OTS konis.

Fwiw, I looked around and Koni states its shocks are not height reliant for performance, so a 1" difference does not matter.

Keep in mind that Konis have two different spring perch heights -- stock and 1" lower than stock. That being the case, it stands to reason that the shocks will work with 1" shorter springs or stock springs on the lower perches. I wouldn't assume that they'll work fine at lower heights than that, though -- at some point any shock will start bottoming if run at a ride height lower than it was designed for.

As an aside, I hate to say it, but while we're all being really nice to Saki GT since he's a well-respected moderator, doesn't this thread belong in the S2000 Modifications and Parts forum?
