Default Kumho V710 tires mounted backwards

When switching tires for an autocross yesterday, I noticed that two of my four V710s are mounted with the side which is supposed to be inside on the outside.

Does this matter enough to pay to have them reversed?

How recently did you have them mounted? Seems like the installer should switch 'em for free as they were installed wrong.

I don't know about the V710s, but I have turned my Hoosiers around mid-season to even out wear.

I bought them used, already mounted on the wheels (SSR GT7, a stock legal wheel for the AP2). I suspect that they were flipped to even out wear, but I forgot to ask the folks I bought them from when I saw them yesterday.

Is there any handling-related reason for the "inside/outside" label, especially on a wet (but no standing water) course?

I believe the V710's carcass is symmetrical. The tread isn't, though, so the tire should theoretically be incrementally faster with the grooves on the inside instead of the outside.

Thanks, Steve. I suspect you're right. And, as you know, "incremental" isn't my chief concern.

My first R-compound tires were Michelin PSC, which claimed to have a slightly different compound on the "inside" and "outside" parts of the tread, for "wet" and "dry" conditions. As you once witnessed, I didn't notice that they were particularly good on a wet track, but I was kind of wondering if the V710s were somehow similar.

If the compound is the same across the face of the tire, I certainly don't care about a very slight possible improvement in worn tires, by flipping them.

I'm pretty sure that the V710 has the same tread compound across its entire width.
