Default KW3 Question

Hey all, just installed my KW3's. It all went very well due to all the great advice I was able to get from these forums before I got started. Thanks to all who took the time to document their experience.

In the instructions for adjusting compression, values are all given in 1/4 turns. I noticed that there is an audible click when turning the compression adjuster, and it seems that it clicks around 1/4 turn , however my adjusters are not perfectly indexed to the "window" in the shock body for adjustment.

Based on this, my question is.... Is the compression adjustment a discreet value rather than continuiously variable, and if so is it the click that I'm hearing which is the point where it changes setting?

Thanks.

You are talking about the adjustment on the bottum of the shock, where you need the pin thingy to adjust them...
Im not sure if Im answering your question, but the reason the tell you measurments in quarter turns is because thats all the opening allows you to turn it. And I am 99% sure that the adustments are "continuiously variable" You are turning a little valve in there I belive. I do remeber reading or hearing somewhere that you dont want to use any force with turning it agianst the stops... because it is so fragile.

Personally, I set it at the factory settings and "forgot" about it.

Congrats on the purchase... they are awesome!

3312DC, you are describing the adjustment that I'm talking about. Yes, the opening does allow for approximately 1/4 turn only.

However on 2 of the shocks, when I closed the valve completely per instructions, the hole/pin was in the middle of the opening, not all the way to one end (the other two were all the way to one end), and as I was opening it approximately 3 x 1/4 turns (as the install guide suggested as a starting point) there were actually 4 audible clicks. I'm just trying to figure out where I started them at, and if it's the clicks I should be focused on or the number of 1/4 turns.

On the awesome part, a quick test drive left me very pleased and I can't wait for my first track day with them.

Thanks

The manual did mention that "smaller increments are possible" so I would have to say the 1/4 click is more of an indicator or maybe a safety feature that would prevent the knob from accidently turning itself from the desired setting. It would be nice if the rebound had the same feature. To answer your last question. Yes. The bump is continiously variable independent from the 1/4 turn increments.

I can't find my manual. Anyone care to post the highlights of the adjustment instructions?
