Laguna Seca --- Roll Call.
for once i agree with Saini, that 1:44 is going to be harder to beat than u may be willing to realize for u mod-R and Prod guys, nevermind "i've never had a sorted car- i like bizarro nazi hoffbrau house's" Bitterman Wankermeister !!!! I know my hot lap from LS at recent Tracquest event and it is a 100% given that my car will make that time given the mechanical mods subsequently done to the SfphinkterMobile. If i don't, i will submit to a formal public declaration that i am a Pansy........
Consequently, 20 bucks says only Dave PK and myself make it, excluding Bob(as he does not have his own car to my knowlege, which will lead me to a subsequent challenge....The SAINI CUP, stay tuned).
the way i see it Keeny can foil me, but he may no show. anyway, he may need only 3, but maybe 5 secs., however he had the big wheels with hoosiers before.
Rhoads.....who knows he's capable of anything, especially if they leave some cones around from the previous driving school!!, just by me stating this he will be determined and get it. his wing and tires should get him...close.
Doug needs more car....so buy some more parts you are clearly in....o/w out. but i would be honored if you were to win the first Sfphinkter Grand-Am.
Ryland will come close but then get 3 meatballs for excess dB......,
oh well, glass packs are cheap.
Walls......be very worried.....the Bitterman DesertTurtleRonaldMacdonald racer is coming to a spin near you. Despite new suspension.....that's not a slammed-slippery-carbon fibered red rocket you're driving, even if you were a faster driver than Saini.

Motons, Big spring rates, Hoosiers, and stock everything else... I probably should install a cage - we've got a better than average chance of hitting 145mph on BOTH straightaways. It's going to be pretty spectactular. I hope the weather holds out.
Mmmm... 6th gear upshift.
Sfphinkter... Good luck, and keep 'er off the walls.
Jason - you mean all three straights at RA.
Hecash should be able to give a good indication of top speeds for FI car - he is signed up for an event at RA in April.
Vipers, Vettes and such hit anywhere from 155-160mph going into 1. I'm hit about 130 at RA in "touring" sessions in the S2000. The Lotus got me to about 125-130, it just isn't made for top speed.

As stated earlier, I agree with Saini and Willardsphyncter even if Willard sounds like he talks out of his sphyncter. Only three people can beat Saini's time: DavePK, Bob in Dave's car, Bob in Rylan's car. Sphyxster could if he can find his sphinketer. (God this is getting disgusting). Hell, I could beat Saini's times in the sphinktermobile.
Re. Doug: no one trade wings or anything; I need the money and cupcakes .... well not the cupcakes.
Doug: no adding more stuff to your car beforehand just to be mean. We'll be examining your car closely.
Rlaifatt: yes, it appears you will be king of the modified class this year. You smeared the competition all over the new blacktop at Sears and Strike is so confident he can win the MODIFIED class than he doesn't even have time to chime in to threads where is pitiful honor is at stake, let alone show up to an event. We'll make sure the MODIFIED class prizes include a free trip to the Bahamas or something.
krazik: don't tell people about our secret test dates. They're just between you and me....

Not to worry guys; while the next wing(s) isn't(aren't) a () permanent modification(s), there's still no way it (they) could be swapped out in less than 30 minutes or so. Oh wait, I guess that's not very long. Still, Keeney (yes, he will be there) has his own plan for Laguna domination.
Which group is Bob running in? Having been to Laguna only once before (and no timing available with S2KCA
), I need to play follow the leader if my dumb ass is going to figure out the line in time to win Production. I'm thinking of switching to red group anyway - a mid 1:4x's car probably isn't going to get any clean laps in the blue sessions.
Getting close to or actually beating Saini's time is going to be very challenging - Jason's a top driver and was in a very well-prepared car. Anyone's only hope is to either be better at Laguna (Mumford, maybe Bobcat) or have a car faster than the $60k King-mobile (Davepk, sfphinkerboy). Those of us with neither advantage are really going to have to pull something out of our sphinkt...err, asses.
And the only hope of anyone catching Dave is if he has some kind of mental breakdown. Perhaps a wave of concerned environmentalism will overcome him, and instead of vaporizing exotic Japanese rubber and blasting high-octane hydrocarbons into the crisp Monterey air, he will decide to hug the trees lining turn 8 and pick pretty flowers around the pond near turn 3, as the mean men in loud metal boxes whiz by around him. Think about the squirrels Dave, they're calling to you!
It's shaping up to be an epic SpeedVentures event, the one they'll be talking about on geeky message boards for a few minutes, maybe even hours to follow:
With $30 on the line, Bitterman's going to bring tires that work; Rylan's got some new Ohlins and god knows what other DCB tricks in the works; sfphinkterMC found the bottom half of his gas pedal's travel at SP and has us all beat in quantity of Type-R badges; Keeney's got the Laguna experience and steamroller-sized Hoosiers; Davepk's got a full-on race car with fresh hubs and a license plate; Bob is the man behind the wheel and is already incahoots with Rylan and Dave for OTC; lastly but not leastly, Doug's got his car fully broken in and his Pulp Mojo in full effect.
Me, I've got something on the workbench that might give ol' Jim Hall a chuckle - but there's the reality of an average driver in an overweight, stock-suspended, stock-motored, stock-wheeled car that can't be overcome. Still, it'll be a blast just to be in the mix.

Here's my prediction for the outcome of both days assuming dry weather:
Bob in Kennedy's car (fast driver/fast car)
Kennedy in Kennedy's car (slightly less fast driver/fast car)
Bob in Rylan's car (fast driver/good car)
The Sphincter (fast car)
Keeney (the X factor)
Bitterman (compelled to bet on myself)
krazik (went to driving school and got Olens)
slickrick (drives fast in fog, used to race, learning car)
Rhoades (wing won't actually actuate)
Hayashi (assuming no more mods)
unabagler (rrrrrusty)
R. Laifatte (leader in his class)
S. Kwan (has bitterbar)
Jason W. (because his name is Jason)
John H. (H comes before K)
John K. (K comes after H)
K. Chai (she's crazy)
B. Liu (drives an S2000)
C. Blem (drives a slower S2000)
K. Sasaki (someone has to be last)
Bob in Kennedy's car (fast driver/fast car)

I think DK should be able to do a 1:42 or faster. Ya thinking about stiffening up the front end some Dave? I'm thinking your car's current setup might pick up the inside rear too much @ LS. How was it last year?
Or, is the car Saini drove @ LS last year has the same suspension as your car?
jzr: LS is easy to learn. nothing really trick there. just need balls and skills (car control) to go really fast. hardest turn is the down hill left T9 Rainey's corner.

Interesting, considering I just checked the Speedventures results for the S2000 Challenge and it looks like track record for the #55 stockish car for last year was:
1-26-02 BW - 1st
1-27-02 BW - 4th (I left when it was raining, everyone else stayed till it dried out)
3-08-02 Streets of Willow - 2nd (with only one leg working)
3-30-02 Sears 4th (learning to drive S2000 on new track)
3-31-02 Sears 2nd
6-20-02 Thill 4th - (Broken Sway Bar)
6-21-02 Thill 6th - (Broken Sway Bar)
7-12-02 Big Willow 1st
8-02-02 Big Willow 2nd
9-20-02 BW - 2nd
11-15-02 BW - 3rd
12-13-02 Streets of Willow - 3rd (jzr's BAUW + fence problem)
So technically I was only off the podium due to:
1. misinterpretation of rules (I thought it was fast lap for weekend, not each day)
2. Learning to drive low powered car on a new track
3. Broken equipment
And, the above record INCLUDES all you drivers with superchargers, wings, lightweight wheels, big ass wheels, carbon fiber tops, big ass brakes, 17 & 18 inch tires, super-duper shocks and springs, lightweight clutches, etc, and national cone-dodging experience.
Which two of the above drivers will be on the podium with me at Laguna?
