AEM V1, stock header, stock cat, JIC single (stainless piping with Ti muffler) - fails by a mile: 98 db and I was easing way off the throttle as I went by the sound station!

On the 98db at Thill, I'd call that a "probably won't pass" Remember that there's nothing standard about the sound stations at different tracks, and distance to the mic, offset, etc vary.

For instance, Sears Point has a sound meter too, but the placement is so good that the only car we've had fail it was a Trans Am car...and I'm not talking a gold chains, three buttons undone kind of Trans Am

I didn't have any problems with a K&N fipk intake, mugen header, stock cat, and J's 60rs. I'm not sure if the weather played a part, it was on & off drizzling that day, but for comparison a few stock c6 Z06s were getting meatballed.

Rylan got dinged for sound at Sears in April '05 with SV. I was in the sound booth at the time, so no he-said she-said

Oh and I used to have that kind of Trans-Am

Anyone know if a mugen exhuast + mugen intake would pass? I would assume so since the intake is pretty quiet.

Lots of stock cars will fail (Gallardo, Elise). Even my quiet ass evo failed. Lift between 5 and 6 and you should be fine if your car isn't obnoxiously loud. Laguna sucks because of the sound patrol. Bring lots of steel wool and some A/C ducting and a couple of fat metal ties in case you get meatballed by those mfers.

Two weekends ago I was there with the racecar (2.2 engine) with Comptech intake, test pipe and Spoon exhaust. Rylan saw the db readings, but I didn't, so maybe he can recall and post what they were.
