Default Laser Pyrometer

If anyone is interested Harbor Freight has a sale going on for a laser pyrometer:

Thought it was a good price when I saw it at their local brick&morter store.

These infrared pyrometers are of limited value, most of the time. Surface temps cool down so fast that you don't get the true reading.

That's OK for some applications, but it's not so good for tires or brakes (which I'm assuming is what is of interest to most people in this forum).

If you are looking to measure tire temps, consider the following blerb on the topic from Longacre Racing Products:

Laser vs Probe

FWIW - Longacre sells both types of devices.
