Lexan
You should be able do the windsheild w/ just sheet stock, no need for a mold.
Hardtop will likely need a mold tho.
I'm not sure who if anyone has done this, but I'd buy a hardtop lexan piece if you find someone.
They should be lighter, not sure how much tho.

There is a japanese company called ASM that has a 2.2 kg polycarbonate windshield. It is ridiculously overpriced, but atleast you can get an idea of how much weight you can save.

It would be nice if there were some specs on how thick it is to know if it is legal for SCCA racing - that way I would know if I could expect 2.2 KG out of a windshield.
Thanks for the heads-up.

2450? thats retarded for something that is meant to be a wear item.

The front is the worst place to put Lexan. It will get sandblasted before you know it, and is not worth the weight savings (in my opinion) for anything short of a well-financed, dedicated track car.
I have it on the front and rear quarter windows, as well as rear window. But I went back to glass for my side windows after trying Lexan there for about a week.

Well, it is a well-financed, dedicated race car, but I don't want to have to replace windshields every couple events either. Thanks for the feedback, I hadn't thought about the wear rate for a lexan windshield.
